hp 4100 scanner problems

    I have a hp 4100 scanner, windows 98se, amd k6-2 500 processor,512 megs of ram, & my motherboard is a asus p5a
    My problem is my computer does not find the scanner or any new devices i have tried loading differnt patches, drivers, updated my usb driver (i have a hub) tried plugging it into the computer and have everything else on the hub on the other port, i even reformated my hard drive and reloaded windows, & it never finds anything
    anyone got any ideas?

    HI , if you go into the bios and the cmos settings some have a halt on .. and you can change to all errors or all but keyboard and mouse etc...
