I've had this printer for a while and it has always worked magnificently. But my roommate had to print some stuff, her computer was broken so I let her use mine and print from it, and the ink catridge was out so she replaced it and it printed a test page and won't print anything else. In the printer queue it just says "error-printing". I downloaded HPs diagnostic tool and it says it's not connected right--but it is I have disconnected and reconnected again and again. It also tells me that the devnodes for the device are missing, yellow - something or disabled. I have no idea what a devnode is. I tried to uninstall the driver and reinstall and now the computer senses the printer but the diagnostic device does not. I have rebooted and unplugged and done all the basic reset things. What's going on? My OS is Vista. Please tell me its the printer.

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, and then plugging the printer into another set of USB ports? Be sure to delete all copies of the printer in the Printers folder. Also you don't want to use the CD to install the drivers, it appears the only Vista drivers are those included in Vista.

Yes, I did try uninstalling the drivers--or at least...I deleted the printer from my computer. Does that count? Sorry, I'm not very printer savvy.

Do you have any HP printer entries in Programs and Features? How about trying another USB port? Any errors listed in Device Manager?
