So just to confirm the ink you bought is genuine (not generic refills) HP ink from a computer retail supply store and not through HP at all?

Yes it does unfortunately. You pay each month based on the number of pages printed. The software monitors your usage and when ink runs low they automatically send you new cartridges. Since you've installed the cartridges you can't return them to exchange them either. I guess the store assumed you were enrolled in a plan.

Frankly, I'd rather just buy my own but you'd have to scrap the ones you already purchased.

I would have to assume so. Did you select the instant ones yourself or did a clerk help you select them? Perhaps if you call the store they'll make some kind of concession for you.

I don't know what else to tell you. I suggest you contact HP support about the issue.

I am confused as to why i am getting a low ink warning ? i guess it could be cheaper to pay as you go printing ?
