I have had to recover my old PC and it thinks it's brand new and wants to register by DIAL UP. I forgot about dial up.I've lost the leads and the socket doesn't work anymore as we have walk about phones. Oh how times have changed. Anyway, it won't update and when I try manually(Installing Windows XP service pack 1, 2 and 3) it says that the doesn't recognise the server.
Is it anything to do with the fact that it hasn't registered? What can I do?

What's the model name and model number of that HP?

What's the product number on the sticker?

Nine(9) years ago, HP was still providing a recovery CD kit with new computers, so I can pretty much assume that's what you used to revert it back to its original factory condition.

Are you still using a 56K dial-up connection, or are you now using a high-speed connection?
