Last week my laptop stopped connecting to wireless. Im being told to plug in an ethernet cable. I have checked Device Manager and the wireless adapter is not even listed there anymore. I factory reset the laptop a few days ago and still nothing. It did detect wifi for like 10 mins yesterday, but then the wireless button turned orange again. I ran a scan while I had the chance and it said there is a problem with the wireless driver.... I dont know what to do. It seems like everything I could possibly do requires internet and that is impossible with the laptop. Please help.
Assuming that you are trying to use the integrated adapter download the latest wireless driver from the laptop manufacturer's web site and try to install it. If that does not succeed then I concur with Liz's advice.
What's the model name and complete model number of that HP laptop?
What's the exact serial number and product number on it?
The built-in wireless device in a laptop can go bad.
The quickest and easiest solution (as Liz advised) is to use an external USB wireless adapter.
I keep 2 - 3 of them in my computer parts box for that reason.
