Hello, My HP dv6700 laptop is not starting after I replaced thermal paste and put in new fan. I removed old thermal paste by using nail polish remover. I was wondering what kind of damage could I have done? How can i fix the problem? Do i have to put new processor, or motherboard or put in old fan to see if that makes a difference. should I try to clean the processor througly with rubbing alcohol since i can still see the thermal paste mess i made on cpu. thank you in advance for help.

Unusual, how/why did you get into its heatsink and cpu, the nail polisher remover is unlikely to have done any damage,t oo much thermal paste can cause overheating issues but this shudnt stop it booting straight away as laptops.seem to tolerate heat well, what was the purpose of changing the heatsink?

How far into its boot does it get, from room temperature, even with a badly seated heatsink it would at least post
