Hi everyone I'm not sure if this is the place to post but I'm running out of ideas!
My hp envy ultrabook shut it self down randomly and since will not turn back on, the power light is on and the wifi button is on but is orange, when I attempt to turn it on those lights come on and you can hear a fan starting up but nothing else happens and if I don't turn it off by holding down the button it stays as such, with nothing on screen and the fore mentioned lights remaining on.
If anyone can assist me it would be greatly appreciated as I have documents I need to access.
    Please and thanks in advance

What's the model number of that HP ENVY laptop?

    What's the part/product number(P/N) on it?

What version and bit version of Windows is it running?

Personal data that's important to you should be backed up to reliable external media on a regular basis.

Waiting until there's a problem with the computer is not the time to do it because it may be impossible to retrieve.

When you first turn on your laptop, does ANYTHING appear on the screen?

I'm not there to see your laptop, so my first guess would be a overheating issue or a bad hard drive.

Unless your laptop is still under warranty, having a reputable computer shop look at it may be your best option.

Unless someone else here jumps in and can help you, let us know what the computer shop determines is wrong with it.

    Good luck.

Sorry if you tried these already:

    - Try to start it up on a docking station/port replicator (if you have one)

    - Take the battery out and see if it turns on just being plugged into the AC outlet

    - connect it to an external monitor (you said slight flicker of the screen occurred, maybe its a bad LCD)

    - try a different AC adaptor? highly unlikely cause those never go bad, but worth a try if you have another one lying around

    Don't have a docking station

Battery is internal, which would mean taking entire thing apart.

    Tried external monitor nothing happens

I'll give the adapter a shot but yeah I'm doubting that as well.

I've had other people watching me turn it on and we agree that the screen goes from off (greyish colour) and flicks on to a darker black but still nothing else from it no matter what I do
Tried shinning light to see if I can get something, tried adjusting brightness as well, nothing.
