What is listed under Network Adapters in Device Manager? What, if any, warnings or errors are anywhere in Device Manager?

If you are attempting to use an integrated adapter is the wireless switched on?

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
(For Vista or 7 type CMD in the Search box after Start)

    Type the following command:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

[Note that there is no space between the slash and ALL.]

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If necessary use a text file and removable media to copy the results to a computer with internet access.

OK, so there's no evidence of any wireless hardware. I'll assume that your are trying/hoping to use an integrated adapter.

Do you know for sure there is a wireless adapter? Have you ever used the wireless on this?

Easier for you than for me to look at the documentation. For HP laptops I've seen a slide switch in front, a button at the upper left of the keyboard and a pressure switch above the keyboard close to center.

Did some reading...there is a switch on the front on this model....it turns wireless on/off. It is glowing BLUE, so wireless is on. This model can do wireless, just appears that it needs some ecouragment to connect. I connected to web using a standard Cat-5 cable in the socket on the side of the netbook....and it runs just fine. It's the wireless connection I cant seem to get going.Tip of the hat again......

As long as the wireless adapter is AWOL from Device Manager you ain't gonna get wireless working.

Look in the BIOS (Setup) to see if it somehow got disabled there.

If you can access the wireless adapter by removing a cover from the bottom of the notebook remove and carefully and firmly replace the card three or four times.

If none of the above coaxes it to show its face in Device Manager you can figure that it is dead or the motherboard has a defect. Consider using a USB wireless adapter.
