I am at my wits end. Lost all sound on my HP Pavillion notebook. I have gone through the troubleshooting for sound and nothing works. I think I lost all sound when doing a disk cleanup, it froze and crashed during cleanup. Why, I don't know. When trying to uninstall and reinstall drivers for Conexant Audio, I got a blue screen but couldn't read cause it came and went too fast. When I restarted, it loaded the drivers like it should but still no sound. Whenever messing around in the device manager with the sound devices, it has crashed four times, but always starts and recovers fine. Shows no conflicts.

I have updated the bios, but I have a question. When I go into setup, should I be seeing any integrated devices, cause I don't.

I even tried to reinstall Windows XP, but I couldn't do that because it said my XP disk I have is an older version of what I have and it won't reinstall, asking for an Administrator password which I have no idea what that is. I have Windows XP Home SP2 and the disk is Windows XP Home SP1.

Any suggestions. I am about to do a total restore using my restore CD's that HP provides but this takes off everything I have put on the computer since I bought it 4 years ago.
