We recently changed out the keyboard and the ac jack. The battery is being recharged with the yellow light on! There is not any power whatsoever! It won’t even try to come on! Any suggestions, we thought about doing a CMOS reset! We have already done the whole, take the battery out and reset thing! Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way, the last time we used this computer it worked, but that was like two years ago! It just had problems with the power jack. Maybe we did something taking it apart? My husband was very careful. We just don’t want to spend a ton getting it fixed. Also, how do you tell if the motherboard is bad? Thanks, Misty

    Hiya misty.

I work for a firm that repairs and sevices HP/Compaq notebook, laptops and basically You just need a new AC adapter, it would seem.

As long as Your laptop boots via the battery and not via the ac unit. But saying that if the battery is empty and has no means of charge then how will You know.

If Your laptop is still in warranty, You have nothing to worry

If Your laptop is out of warranty, You still should have nothing to worry about. Contact the HP Customer Services and request a replacement battery and AC adapter.

It's a known issue with many makes and models.

The thing is, it doesn't turn on at all. We just got a new ac adapter and the battery is good and charging. Still not turning on. :( We just ran out of warranty! Misty
