My problem is exactly the same as a previous post but I didnt see if this person ever resolved their problem ( http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/881303-hp-vista-no-audio-output.html ) I have tried everything with the exception of a factory reset but am worried that if I do it still will not resolve my problem. Please help, when i try re downloading drivers it says DRiver installation failed : Could not find the MEDIA device for this
    THank you!

Here is the support and driver downloads site for the HP Pavilion dv6636nr Entertainment Notebook PC

I suggest you add and save this site in your browser favorites/bookmarks list so you can readily refer to it when needed.

According to the product specifications section for that laptop, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed.

Here is the current driver for its Conexant High Definition Audio device.

Go to Control Panel - Device Manager.

Click the + in Sound Video And Game Controllers

    What's listed in that heading?

Are there any entries in the Device Manager with a yellow ? or yellow ! or red X next to them?
