HP Pavillion DV9000..Vista...black screen but ca nsee with flashlight

My screen went black. At firdt I thought there were no images/graphics, but when i shine light on screen I can see graphics and navigate with no problem. Blue LCD light is on above the "end"/"pg up" button.

I recently did full reset to factory settings....tho computer was working fine for 4-5 days after that.. I may have hit some buttons on keyboard. Last download before issue was Adobe Photoshop trial download.

Thanks for your reply,

1.5 yrs maybe......what else could it be.......I am typing on it but i am sitting so the Sun is hitting the screen.....and what is required to fix it is it is the backlight/inverter..... I have taken apart computer before and am fairly handy with that ..is i something I could do ..and what is cost of replacement ....I have ....another HP/Compaq Presario that is about 2yrs old.....that motherboard went out on ..i think..is it a part I could use from that

No the Backlight/Inverter is in the Monitor....what is the make and model of the monitor?


Does it act the same in Safemode....start tapping F8 on startup and choose safemode if you can see it

I have two options NVidia Gforce8600M GS and a Genericc PnP Nvidia GForce8600M GS..6.0.6001.18000.version

Those are video cards....I think the problem is the Screen.......can you hook up an external monitor to that PC as a test

what does that mean with regard to what is probably wrong with my laptop screen?

And what would i need to so to get it fixed....
