    Hello Everyone,

I have a HP Pavilion N5425 Notebook. The HP logo shows up and then the screen goes blank with this message:

    ADMtek Boot Agent V1.17_1401_03
PXE-E61 - Media Test Failure. Check Cable

PXE - MOF: Exiting ADMtek PXE ROM

Its been doing this for a couple of weeks, but when I was restarting the computer it was working fine. Now, I can't even get past this screen with this message, and it keeps coming up over and over, filling up the screen. Also, right before the message appears, the notebook makes a pop type of sound. Does anyone know what is going on with this notebook?

    I appreciate all the help.

    Thank you

Thank you for that information. I will try those steps, and hopefully my laptop will start working properly.

It usually indicates a failed hard drive or worse, the IDE interface has failerd.

The message indicates that it is attempting to boot from a non-existant network device, usually because it cannot detect the hard drive.

I did a diagnostic test through the recover disk, and I found out that the system board is bad.

Not an economic fix for a laptop that old either...

Must be the HP laptop death season.
Two corpses here, each about 2.5 years old.
    Both with motherboard failures.
