HP Photosmart Premium C309G printer installation

    I recently bought this printer (which has built-in wireless), and installed the software on my Dell laptop (D620 w/ XP Pro, sp3), and (homebuilt) desktop, also with Win XP Pro., sp3. I have a home network, via a Motorola Surfboard cable modem, and a Linksys Wireless G broadband router. I've enabled printer sharing, so I can print with either the desktop or the laptop. My problem is, that I cannot tell if the "wireless" feature of the printer is working. In fact, I'm not sure of the exact signal path for any document I might want to print from the laptop. Is it from a wireless antennae in the laptop, directly to the printer? BTW, the "Wireless" light on the printer is illuminated, whenever it is powered up.
