I have a HP Deskjet 2050 which will not accept refilled cartridges.
I have cleaned the contacts on both the refills and the printer to no effect.

Is there a fix that will allow me to print with refilled cartridges?

some cartridges have a built in chip that needs to be reset upon refilling

They all have "chips" ... not all chips (cartridges) can be reset.
Resetting the chip only enables the HP's software ability to read the "new" (refilled) ink level.

What is the printer doing that makes you think it will not accept refilled cartridges ??

when I insert the refilled cartridges, the warning lights appear, and the printer will not operate either as a printer or as a photo copier.

Looks like I was Wrong .. "SOME" HP printers will not take refilled cartridges ....
unless a special cartridge was used.
Looks like your 2050 is one of them.

HP printers/all-in-ones don't like generic or refilled cartridges.

You also risk damaging the printer by using them.
