HP Photosmart D7560 running off a Win 7 Home 32bit computer.

No issues till it ran low on black ink, the main black cartridge a 564 XL.
I've been using new HP cartridges, but the price looked good on a remanufactured kit made by ONN. So I bought it.

The printer saw it as defective. Would not print or go through the actions of printing.
I returned it, bought a new HP replacement.

    Now the printer acts erratically.
Sometimes the printer won't print. Just blank pages.
Sometimes turning it off and on throws a caution that the new cart is defective, several times claimed it wasn't made for the printer it's installed in.
Sometimes other cartridges are listed as defective.

And now I notice the computer sees it as an external drive while the printer is turned on.
I rebooted the computer, same situation.

    Suggestions?
Fixable or waste of time trying?

edit: just noticed there is now a floppy disk drive listed in 'My Computer'.
    Not there before today.

Try to completely deinstall any software related to and with the printer, including all drivers. Reboot and install the latest drivers from HP's website.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Unfortunately, same strange results.
    The printer will be replaced.

    A followup.

A friend suggested I clean the contacts of the print head.

    So, this morning I did.
    That did the fix.
There was a slight film of ink between some of the contacts.

The issue with the remanufactured cartridge was probably from the print head being disturbed when initially installing the cartridge and the contacts shorted.

Why the computer keeps installing a floppy drive is unknown. The printer does have ports for usb, xd, sd, cf and ms ( ? ) data input. Maybe something there?

No further problems with the computer or printer ( yet :D )
