Hi, we have XT963 Pavilion desktop that just one day would not power up. It is getting power to the unit as the little green light on the back is on. Does anyone have any ideas on things to try on this before I take it in or trash it for good? thanks so much, Lisa ( aka red )

I have seen a few of these XT 963's do this. Your power supply has gone bad and you need to replace it. You will need a Mini-ATX format power supply of at least 180 watts. If you can find a 200W mini-atx all the much better.
In this machine it's pretty easy to do, just make sure the power supply is P4 capable. You should be able to find this power supply for about $30.00 and the change out will take about 30-40 minutes of your time. Just look to see where the original wires went and install the new one the same way.
Even though this model was a special build for Wal-Mart they do have somewhat respectable performance especially if you increase the RAM to 256MB.
