Hi I have a form on a search engine looks different in IE than in Firefox.
The form is coded so that it on a table that has a background of 50 pixels, but this background starts to repeat only in the IE browser.

When I take out the form tags and leave just a table the thing looks fine in both.

Try setting the tag with a no-repeat attribute:
    background-repeat: no-repeat
