Hundreds of 1 to 2 second internet outages per day??

    I have had an ongoing issue with hundreds of very short outages a day. It's something that more annoying than anything else. If I'm on the web (Chrome), I will get errors saying my internet connection is lost. I hit reload and most of the time the connection is made. It seems like it effects connecting a smart tv up to apps like Hulu and Netflix. However, once the connection is made I usually don't have issues with the streaming.

    After updating all the firmware on my router and calls to my ISP, I finally switched providers (Mediacom Cable) figuring the problem was on their side (plus the bill was getting pricey). But I'm having this same issue with my new provider (CenturyLink).

    So I'm guessing the issue is with my desktop.

    So are you connecting wireless or hard wired as there is no wireless adapter shown
    Go network and sharing centre
    click the connection icon in the notifications area
    open network
    on adapters
    right click the local area connection
    click properties
    click in the white window the Internet Protocol Version 4 entry
    click the properties button just below that window
    check to see that IP address and DNS server are obtain automatically

    Do the same with the Internet Prot0col Version 6 entry

    It's hardwired from the router to the desktop. I checked both the Internet Protocol 4 and 6. Both were already checked to get the address automatically (per your screenshot).

    Thanks for taking a crack at this.

    click the download link on that entry to the right of the Windows 10

    SAVE the file - save as to desktop
    right click and extract to desktop
    then go back to network centre and on the adapter - right click and click properties
    on my screenshot you will then have the window to the left of the screenshot
    click configure below the entry for the
    : Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

    which on my screenshot is the GBE family controller

    Now click the driver tab
    then click update driver
    then click browse my computer for driver software
    configure it for desktop then expand to the saved extracted file
    then to windows 10
    then to 64 bit and then it will install

    I am about to sign off but will wait for 15 minutes in case you have questions

    Here's what it looked like BEFORE I updated the driver[​IMG]
    And it looks that way after the update (just in case there is supposed to be a change).

    I'll let Net Uptime Monitor run overnight and report the results in the morning.

    I have never seen anything like it
    With such flashes of failure lasting maximum of .02 of a minute I suspect the problem is absolutely nothing connected with the computer
    I think it is a cable - ADSL fault
    Who ever is the ISP they are of course using the same line to your house
    The test of course at this stage is to connect another computer OR to connect your computer to another house - modem/router neighbour etc.
    Not your provider but this will show you to what I refer

    Try this in the meantime

    1. Does the same problem occur with Edge
    IF it does proceed as below - if it does NOT when you reply we will continue to look at Chrome

    2.

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes.
    2. At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:
      • Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
      • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
      • Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.
      • Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
      • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
