I have an Windows XP Compaq Presario v2000 laptop computer.
    I use a LINKSYS router model WRT54GS.
I am able to connect directly to my modem, but not wirlessly or wired through my router. The problem is not with my computer because I am able to access the internet through neighbors wireless, but not my own.

Remove all stored wireless profiles on the machine and search for the network and connect.

If that doesn't do it, try it with no encryption on the router and see if you can connect that way. If so, updating the drivers on the laptop may be the answer. Of course, you should also have the latest updates for XP as well.
