IO accidentally deleted the network protection key from my laptop and now can't access the internet. I have tried re-entering it but still can't connect to the internet. Can anyone help me put it right?
I'm cautious about doing a system restore as we had some work done to it yesterday and I don't want to undo what the technician has done. The two restore points listed are around the time he was working on it (yesterday morning).
What is a "network protection key"? If it's a wireless encryption key, there's not to delete or restore. Just re-enter it. If it's something else, you'll have to explain.
It is the password for the wireless connection. I have tried re-entering the password but it now won't connect to the internet. I presume that is due to the password. Although, the password I've entered is the same as the one there before.
Wireless connection properties>security>network security key. I must have deleted it and then pressed ok. It is registering that the wireless network is available. It isn't saying that the password is incorrect but it still won't connect. I tried running the troubleshooter but that didn't return any problems
Login to the router, navigate to the wireless section and set the Encryption (or Security) Mode to 'none' or 'off' or similar. Your router user guide on CD or manufacturer's web site will have specifics.

Assuming that they can still get into the router though to switch it off. ;-)
If they can still connect to router through another machine, even if connected through ethernet. Router would probably have its own name and password too.
