I have an old PC running on XP Pro. I also have another extra HD just lying around. I installed Win server 2003 on the extra HD. My thought was that I can switch between the 2 HDs depending on what OS I want to run. When I switched back the XP HD, the PC still boots as a server 2003.

What am I missing in here?

    Thanks..

    You're saying:

    HD1 - XP

    HD2 - Server 03

and you removed HD2 completely from the computer (unplugged cable), and it still boots server 2003? That would mean you installed it wrong.

If you're saying you have both HDs in, and it keeps booting from HD2, then push F10 or F2 or F12 (depending on your MoBo manufacturer) when you boot to get the boot menu, and select HD1.

When you installed Windows Server 2003, was the Windows XP hard drive completely disconnected? If so, the boot manager didn't get configured for both operating systems. Windows XP needs to be present for Server 2003 to recognize it and account for it during boot.
