Hello, please help me, I am in trouble with Deep Freeze, just installed it an hour ago, during installation, my Spy Sweeper pops up message box asking me to confirm start up program as usual, before I had a chance to move the mouse cursor.. the computer rebooted !!

Now, when I got myself back into Windows XP, while it was loading up, it rebooted again, I was looking elsewhere not at the monitor so I didn't know what happened during 2nd reboot. I thought to myself that it's just another rebooting for setup the software (Deep Freeze) (Faronics Deep Freeze 5 Pro)

When it finished rebooting, I got into Windows XP and looked around for start menu item so I can configure Deep Freeze to protect my drive, but I couldn't find anything, I went to Add/Remove Programs, it is not there, but there Program Files entry... C:\Program Files\Faronics\Deep Freeze\Install C-0\ and there is only 1 file in there :( which is "DF5Serv.exe"

This file has been added to Services (checked in computer management) and starts with Windows, now, I cannot find any configuration interface like the manual from the site says, and I can't remove / configure it without disabling it first :-( now seems like whatever I do on my computer will be eradicated after reboot..... Help :-(

PS: Anyone know if it is possible to disable Deep Freeze during booting up? like how you can do it with HDD Sheriff by pressing F9 after POST screen.

    Thanks heaps.

Go to Start > Run and type in:

    msconfig

Click on the 'Startup' tab along the top and uncheck ONLY Deep Freeze. OK this and restart, you will get a message on your screen when you reboot. OK that message and done.

Please do not uncheck any other services except for this.

There is no Deep Freeze in Start Up tab.
However, under Services tab, there is "DF5Serv" which is Deep Freeze service. What should I do? I want to configure it if possible but if I cant, I want to safely remove it.

Uncheck only 'DF5Serv' in that list and OK. It will disable Deep Freeze from the Startup process. Also, it is reversible, so if you do encounter problems, you can undo it.
