Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 is very outdated, so don't worry about that update not wanting to install.

Do you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1(which includes 2.0. SP2 and 3.0 SP2) and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed?

    ------------------------------------------------------------

What's the brand name and model name and model number of that old computer?

Has a clean reinstall of Windows XP Home Edition SP3 ever been done in it?

I'm going to take a guess that your computer is a HP/Compaq brand.

The brand name and model name and model number should be embossed on the case somewhere.

There should also be a sticker that has a product number(P/N) and model number(M/N).

You didn't answer my first question in post #4.

That information is of no help, and you still haven't answered my first question in post #4.

    -------------------------------------------------------------

You need to add at least another 512 MB of RAM to that computer, or else it's going to have the performance of a turtle when doing certain computing functions.
