I cant get internet IE 6

    I have a computer with win 98se. I cant get any web pages to load or get anything to access the internet, I have tried liveupdate and it says not able to connect to host or any program cant get to the internet to update. I have an asus a7v8x-x and all the drivers are fine!! I even ran spybot, uninstalled all the network settings and reinstalled them no luck, here is what hijack this logged:

    Nope my other computer is what i am using to talk to you now, using the same modem

    Scan for viruses and run the IE repair tool in Control Panel>add/remove software.

    Did all that! I can ping an ip address with 0% packet loss but nothing can get to the inernet, I guess the only thing left is to reinstall windows

    hummm this maybe a silly question but if you are using the same modem.....dont two computers have to be networked??? I maybe wrong....

    I have a router and just in case sometimes I have each computer connected directly to the modem.

    Im sorry what do u mean, when I am trying to load a page with IE? I get this page cannot be displayed in IE

    what is the error message appearing just below the window and just above your task bar.....the one that shows the loading %?
