Just when I thought everything was cool. I have tried all that I know. Can anybody figure this out?

Symptom: When I go to shut down or restart it goes to a blue screen and stays there. I've even let it sit all night. It's not a BSD with a message, just a blue screen. I invariably end up pressing and holding the power button to cold boot the computer. There must be a better way!
One more note: I have trouble entering text into forms sometimes. Don't know if it's related or not. I don't want to confuse the issue.

    Thanks, Eric

Can you restart in safe mode and see if it will shut down normally from there?

I have been able to restart while in safe mode. Yes. I should have mentioned that. Thanks

Ok, you need to experiment with the startup items.....start, run, type msconfig, hit enter and go to the startup tab.

Either uncheck everything and put one back at a time, or uncheck one by one and keep restarting until you find the culprit.
