Can you advise us exactly what you did instead of just saying you "accidentally deleted" the audio device?

------------------------------------------------------

Right-click MY COMPUTER, then click Properties - Hardware - Device Manager.

Are there any entries with a yellow ? or ! next to them?

------------------------------------------------------

What's the brand name, model name, and model number of your computer?

What you apparently did was uninstall/remove the driver software in Control Panel - Add Or Remove Programs for the sound device.

Double-click that yellow ! entry in the Device Manager to open its properties window.

Click the "Details" tab, then select "Hardware Ids".

You will see one or more strings that have VEN_####&DEV_#### as part of it.

Advise what the numbers and letters are that follow VEN_ and DEV_

That vendor code and device code is what identifies the sound device, so don't make any typos.

According to vendor code 8086 and device code 27D8, your laptop has Realtek High Definition Audio.

Go here and click one of the "Download @ MajorGeeks" links to download and SAVE the WDM_R270.exe file.

After its been downloaded and SAVED, close all open windows first, then double-click it to start the install process.

Follow the instructions from there.

Go to Windows Updates and do a custom scan.

Once the scan is finished, see if anything is in the hardware list.

If the sound driver is listed there, select it and then download and install it.

-----------------------------------------------------------

If that doesn't work, go to the Intel site here, then allow the Intel Driver Update Utility to load and run.

If it displays a sound driver, download and install it.
