I've just updated my Win98 (19 critical updates recommended by Micros. Corp.)
and what I've noticed is that everything's changed on my PC - my desktop looks different, there are no progs in start>programs, my browsers are back in default mode (no extensions, themes, bookmarks), no accounts in mail clients (are all of my messages gone??), system startup's changed, etc. etc......

Is it always like that after updating and I just didn't know about it?? Is there a way to restore my own configurations I set up before?? Or should I just start from the very beginning with that??

I'm feeling like a stranger now using my comp. It's just like not mine if y'all know what I mean....

Sorry, but it didn't work for me...
I've search almost the whole Microsoft's site but no result in finding the answer to my problem. Tried to restore backup but no result - mission failed. I wonder if there's a way to save the updates but restore my own settings I used to have before I updated...

That sounds like you have somehow created an addditional account and are using that account rather than your old account

when you boot up do you get a log on screen with different names on it
