I'm pretty compitant on the sorftware side of computers but i dont have much of an idea of the hardware side. I dont even know if what i have got is slow or that its because im imapatiant.

Anyway here are my current specs:

CPU: Pentium D 805 (2.66Ghz, 533Mhz fsb, 2X1Mb cache)
Ram: 1GB DDR2 533Mhz
Graphics: ATI Radeon X600 256 MB hypermemory

Looking to spend around £40 on memory upgrade. £80 on graphics and £150 on CPU.

Could some people give me an idea on what stuff to buy or even if i need to

These are the things i think i need:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775 2.4GHz (the Ghz rating is lees, doe sthis mean it is slower or waht!)
Ram: Crucial 1GB kit (512MBx2), 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-4200 memory module (to add to my existing 1Gb)
Graphics: Sapphire Technology Radeon X1650Pro 512MB DDR2 AGP8x

Divert the £150 for graphics to a new graphics card and more RAM. The CPU is fine, nice and powerful.
Get a 1x 1gb stick of DDr2 533mhz RAM.
Check what you have for graphics, you will either need a AGP card or a PCI-E card. I'd guess it would be PCI-E seeing the board uses DDR2.

As for dual core. That is 2.4ghz each core so you will effectively have 2 2.4ghz processors or a 4.8ghz.
