    Hi There!

I have two computers connected to ISDN. One of them works perfectly. However, there is one that connects to Kazaa but doesn't connect to MSN, IE or Netscape.

I have downloaded an anti-trojan/worm software and it found one trojan on winstart1001.exe and deleted it. However, I can't still browse the web, neither IE nor Netscape does anything and I can't sign in to MSN.

Can you please help me?! I have no idea on what to do from here. If anyone can help me fix this I would appreciate it so much... I need to work on that computer too, it is urgent.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! :)

    Kindest Regards,
    Gibran Selman

go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

Do you have a home network? These entries below seem suspicious. The DNS doesn't resolve to anything, and all advice given in other posts is to remove them. So I'll repeat that advice. We can always restore these entries afterwards if you get problems.

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com

    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\VxD\MSCTP: Domain = mydomain.com

    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 216.127.92.38

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 216.127.92.38

After rebooting, click Start | Settings | Control Panel | Network Connections.
Right click on your connection and choose Repair.

Next, if you could download Spybot - Search & Destroy, from www.tomcoyote.org/spybot : if you haven't already got the program.

Now press Settings, and Settings again. Go to the Webupdate section, and check "Display also available beta versions".

Now press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds marked RED.

Reboot again and post a new log, just to make sure it's all gone.

    Cheers

    Liam

    You're welcome Gibran.. (y) :)

But before you go, the W98 machine needs cleaning up as well. I'm just going to go through that one, so if you want to come back in 20 minutes or so......

    Cheers

    Here we go Gibran, :)

    On the W98 machine

First thing to do is to get rid of Kazaa. It's loaded with spyware. Please go here http://www.webattack.com/get/kazaagone.shtml and download and run the program. Next go here and download Kazaalite.....

Errr...... this is interesting, I just went to get a download URL for you, and it seems that Kazaalite are in legal trouble with Kazaa, and their site is closed. So hold off on removing Kazaa for the moment as I can't reccomend an alternative. I'll have a chat here and see what we can come up with.

Please run a new scan, and check to fix the following entries. Next close all browser windows and click the Fix checked button...

Regarding these 017 entries, same goes as before. :) I'm too lazy even to C/P even though this has taken longer.. :D
