I got the Floppy drive blues...

    I got this generic peice of **** anyway I put a diskett in there and it says Please insert a disk in drive a.. when theres one in there I put this certain one in tehre and all it does is tick tick tick tick tick
    Please help me I;d appreciate it

    Usually when this happens the problem is either the drive or the diskette. Have you tried different disks? It is especially helpful if you have a disk that you know works in another system, although this isn't foolproof as floppy drives sometimes do not read disks recorded on another drive.

    I think new flopppy drives cost about $10.

    Hi,

    Flip the ribbon cable over. Remember, the ribbon cables for a floppy have the red stripe going the opposite way than do hard drive ribbon cables. Red stripes go toward the power strip or away from you as you look in the open case.

    If the light stays on flip it back again. The symptoms you describe(clicking) are often caused by a loose cable. Check both ends are seated properly.
