The computer is lagging alot.

I think i know why also, I did a search for the horse, found its file and deleted it.

Ever since then my MSN messenger, IE, firefox ect have been lagging.

Such as, MSN messanger will take 5-8 seconds before I can do anything to it.

Any idea on how to fix the problem?

I uninstalled firefox, and msn then reinstalled them, but it didnt help any.

I've done a virus scan.

Oh yeah, the Tojan Horse was rlvknlg.exe

Thanks for your help guys.

Need more information:
What AV scanning tools did you use to find evidence of the trojan?
Do you run a hardware/software firewall? Suggest ZoneAlarm Free if not in order to stealth your computer's ports, and notify outbound connection attempts (which is what a call-home trojan will do).

Here's a list of On-line scanners you can get to scan your computer:
Housecall: http://housecall.trendmicro.com
Panda: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan
RAV AV: http://www.ravaantivirus.com/scan
eTrust: http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/virusscan.aspx
Malware: http://virusscan.jotti.org

Here's a couple of freeware anti-trojan scanners:
a2 (A-Squared): http://www.emsisoft.com
ewido: http://www.ewido.net - (two-week free trial reverts to freeware if no buy)

rx7weee,

Start by answering my questions, not by posting an incident report, for example to get you started, what software reported the incident report?

Like i said in my 2nd post, i found the trojan on my own. I had no AV software to help me find it.

after i deleted it, i thought i might have deleted a importan program. So i searched google for the exe. and i found out that it was a trojan horse.

No I am not running a firewall.

Panda: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan did the scan.

I suspect the NewDotNet entries found are what could be affecting your connection.

Click here to download Hijack This: http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe

Let it extract to C:\Program Files

Close out any open browsers
Launch the program
Hit "do a system scan only"
When that finishes, hit "save log"
The log will open in Notepad
Copy & paste that log into this thread

Do not fix anything yet

No I am not running a firewall.

Panda: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan did the scan.
rx7weee,

You probably got the trojan in the first place by not stealthing your ports. To do this you can install the freeware ZoneAlarm Free. Sygate Personal Firewall is also freeware and will also stealth your ports. Stealthing your ports prevents port scanners from knowing that there is a computer behind your IP address which is worth its weight in gold if the crackers leave you alone.

Test your ports at http://scan.sygate.com

The other capability which you need a firewall software for is to notify you of outbound connection attempts. Windows firewall does not have this capability - I run with it off, although I have both ZoneAlarm Free and my AV which is PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005 from Trend Micro has a lightweight firewall that also does some blocking. Call-home trojans will connect to remote sites where the trojan author will take over your machine and use it in ways you do not want - like chewing up bandwidth by actin as a spam relay.

As I suspected, you have another winsock hijacker other than newdotnet.

If NewDotNet is still listed in Add/Remove Programs, uninstall it.

Get the LSP Fix: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Launch the application, and click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox.

Check all instances of rlls.dll (and nothing else), and move them to the "Remove" pane.
Then click Finish.

Boot into Safe Mode (start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen)

Find and delete this file: c:\windows\system32\rlls.dll

Empty the Recycle Bin.

Reboot and post a new log. We have other things to clean up.

Uninstall the following from Add/Remove Programs (if listed there):

MySearch
NewDotNet
ViewPoint Manager
ViewPoint Toolbar
WeatherBug

Now go here: http://www.newdotnet.com/removal.html

Scroll to the bottom of the page to Procedure 4 and download and run the New.Net Uninstaller.

If you lose your internet connection after running the New.Net Uninstaller, Run the LSPFix again and click Finish. (Don't do anything else).

Restart your computer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download and run Micro$oft Anti Spyware BETA:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

First in the top menu click File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick Scan Now".
Click Spyware scan options.
In that window put a tick by Run a full system scan.
Then put a check by all three options below that then click Run Scan now.

When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds
(Have it quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.)
It is a BETA program and there may be false positives.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then click here to download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

· Install Ewido.
· During the installation, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
· Launch ewido.
· It will prompt you to update click the OK button and it will go to the main screen.
· On the left side of the main screen click update.
· Click on Start and let it update.
· DO NOT run a scan yet. .

Restart your computer into Safe Mode now.
(Start tapping the F8 key at Startup, before the Windows logo screen).
Perform the following steps in Safe Mode:

* Run Ewido:
Click on scanner
Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
Save the report to your desktop.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Restart your computer.

Post a new Hijack This log and the results of the Ewido scan.
