So I am at work right now, and I was on one of the computers using the internet, technically we are not supposed to use it for internet access for this very reason, but of course big headed me thought "I'm not dumb, I know how to not get a virus or trojan or anything bad!" and then I go and get the microsoft security essentials (I think it was called) trojan, and now the computer will absolutely NOT boot in any safe or normal mode, it just runs all of these file locations then freezes up everytime I press the power button.

After hours of searching online and finding little, I found a windows xp reinstallation cd and I remember seeing a few places that said that if you have the os cd then you can repair the computer booting it off of the disc. Is the reinstallation cd I have going to work for that? I am just terrified of trying it, then seeing the entire os replace itself and all of the microsoft office and my company programs gone, will that happen?

I won't get fired for this, but I will get into trouble which I totally deserve right now, I am kicking myself like crazy, and am just incredibly screwed, and I get off in 25 minutes and just need to know if this cd will repair what I need it to, without deleting the programs and files already on the computer.

any help or ideas? I am such an idiot, but also very desperate!
