I have AOL and I download stuff all night. I leave my computer on just turn the monitor off when I wake up in the morning i turn my monitor on too see how my download is going but when i turn the monitor on i get no picture or anything, at that time i have to turn the computer off by pressing the power off button, I dont like doing that cause i heard it messes up the computer faster. I would also like to know if its ok to turn the monitor off and leve it off for long periods of time wehn the computer is on.

right click on the desktop, and make sure that these are off:
1. "turn hard disk off" set to never
2. screen saver is off
3. system hibernate/ sleep is off

Your computer could be going on to standby. Even though it is not checked in properties, it still goes on standby every 1 out of 10 times I leave it on for awhile, and I have to restart.

I unchecked everything like the system standby, and the hardisk and the screensaver. I'll find out tomorrow morning if this worked. Thanx for the help everyone.
