Hi, yesterday I found out that I had a Trojan Horse virus ans i did managed to kill it (i think). Anyways the folders that it infected was my music and pics folders, so all my MP3s and JPGs were renamed with a .vbs extension. I deleted all the files with that extension but now I cant see any of my old MP3s or JPGs which are still there somewhere. If I click on properties for the music folder it says that there are 413 MP3 files in there but I cant see any of them. Even when I open KazaA it says that I am sharing 413 files. Is there any way I can make it so I can see these files again? Thanks a lot for the help. Wes.
p.s. turning on the hidden folder option doesnt work.

Try scanning on line:

<A HREF="http://housecall.antivirus.com/">Trend Micro HouseCall </A>
<A HREF="http://security2.norton.com/us/home.asp?j=1&venid=sym&langid=us&plfid=20&pkj=RBCQKZWCGZYFVHDYKDB">Symantec Security Check</A>

That way you at least get to know the exact name of your virus/worm /trojan.

And when we know that, we can possibly find a dedicated cleaner for this specific nasty.

Good luck,

Sorry to hear it. Did the "JPG File Recovery" work? If so did it only fix the .jpg files?

I tried the suggestion by hewee for recovering JPEG infected files (VBS loveletter virus) but was not able to run it. Anyone out there had success with this. I need some guidance. I've printed out the text file with directions and folowed the directions but keep getting a bad command or file name error message.

buzzt,

That too bad but I was just thinking about something you can try.
See this tread on JPG Cleaner,
http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59065

JPG Cleaner is simple but powerful utility for cleaning JPG files
from anything that is not picture data. Commonly used
programs such as Adobe Photoshop are writing additional
information into JPG file that isn't needed for correctly
displaying the picture and this program will remove it, thereby
reducing the file size sometimes significantly. (We tested it
and saved 260 kb on 90 files)

Can't hurt to try it out.
