I recently had my computer fixed ( power port fixed, new A drive, usb port fixed and new cd-rom)and when i got it back I had to use a quick restore because my modem wasn't being detected. After the restore the modem worked and it seemed to be working. I was able to load up AOL so I could get on the net. I tried to load a few games and one of them (NHL 2003) it seemed that when i went to play it was in safe mode. The screen was larger then its normal size and as soon as I tried to play it would disappear and the computer was in safe mode. The only way to get back into normal mode was to do a step by step comformation. Once I got back into safe mode I tried another game just to see what was going on (warcraft). The game seemed to load ok but once I was in play mode it frooze but this time i was still in normal mode. I'm really at a lost as to what to do. Is something not connected? I could use a little help troubleshooting this. I'm using windows 98 but don't have a disk, the quick restore is all i have and i thought by doing that it would load the right drivers. Is there a driver I'm missing? how can I find out? Is it a graphics problem or CD-Rom deal? Any help would be appreciated!!!! Is there a way the find the drivers?

Hi and welcome....on your restore cd, there should be display adapter drivers.....it should also have a setup.exe file.....double click on that, and your colors should be restored.

Well there doesn't seem to be that option. the cds has the following files bookdisk, cpqs which has files named message, mfgstart, models, patches, quicksr, saverest, tools, qrtools as subfolders, then back up its got data folder,bootcat.bin,bootsect.bin,en.flg,lfs,maxcd2,multicd,v41.sku. Fpr whatever reason compaq has allowed very little info out. Aside from restoring the cd don't really give any orther options.

I'm having problems with my video games. I recently repaired computer installing a new cd rom and I've updated my direct x driver and also updated the display drivers and touch pad drivers and also tried changing the graphic and lower my colors. when i go to play the video game appears to large for the screen. I've been looking all over the site for an answer with little help. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the game. my display driver is a Rage mobility m1 agf. Also when I check all of my devices everything seems the be working correctly. when i downloaded one of the display updated the screen was a little less larger
then before. I tried compaq and the game company and they all tell me to do things i already have and then blame each other. I've tried loading a few different games and it will either freeze (if i get that far) or won't even go to the startup screen. If you want some more info like what device types i have i will post. At this point i'm totally lost and you guys are just about my last hope. Please help!!!!!!
