I have Comcast Cable Internet & Lynksys wireless. At least 4-8 times a night, I am booted off the internet. The cable modem is fine, and all lights are a go, but I live in a condo, do you think someone is trying to hack into my encrypted connection? I don't have a landline phone, and my range is great. Could someone else's phone be screwing up my connection or someone else trying to use my internet? If it's locked up, would I get kicked off if someone is trying to get to my internet?

    First Name:
could be a lot of things

    cordless phone
    other networks on same channel
    firmware upgrade needed
    dns issue

when its working try the following test and then repeat when you lose the connection - it will tell us if you can see the router and see the internet via ip numbers and hence if you have a dns issue

do other people have the same issue - or is it just you ???

    ipconfig /all

TWO Methods to do that - some people have problems with ONE----

    ONE ---------------------------------
    ipconfig /all

    rightclick in the box
    select all
control key + C key - to copy
    then reply here and
control key + V to paste

    TWO -----------------------------------------------

Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window and type:

Open C:\RESULT.TXT with Notepad and copy/paste the entire results here.

NEXT lets see if you can get out onto the internet with both names and IP's - its possible the IP number you get back on the first test is different to the one I post {I'm in UK} so use the number you get instead of mine

try ping the name and then the IP see below

    C:\Documents and Settings\wayne>ping {the default gateway ipaddress you got above }

    C:\Documents and Settings\wayne>ping google.com
    C:\Documents and Settings\wayne>ping
