ok, a couple of days ago i had sound on my brand new pc, then all of a sudden it's gone!
I did install a couple of programs which convert mpeg files and audio files but i'm pretty sure the sound still worked after that. in fact i don't really know when the sound disappeared, i just know that it doesn't work:(

I can't hear anything at all, not from dvd/cd drive or windows player thingy or on the net. the problem seems to be with windows but when i checked the device manager thingy there were no !

I also checked the mute buttons and sound volume on everything and nothin... not a peep.

the funny thing is that i also have linux installed on my pc (my brother thinks it's the ants pants) and the sound works there
Can anyone please tell me what the /';[@#1%% is going on? I am ready to cry

Hi mate...Well a lot of sound issues lately in the forum! Please tell us what sound card do you own. Is it correctly recognized by windows in device manager? Any yellow marks there?

You could try reinstalling the card's drivers as a first step.
