    1. What is the ls option that prints the author of a file?
    2. What is the ls option to sort by file size?
    3. What is the ls option to list entries by lines instead of by columns
    4. What is the option to output the version information of ls

I don't mean to be rude, but these are incredibly basic questions in Linux. Haven't you even tried looking them up on your own?

As a former teacher, those questions look like a homework assignment.

If you want to learn linux, you'll have to read the material, not expect others to answer the questions for you.

If this is your homework, it is against the rules here to post them.

Since you are learning Linux, you should use Linux. Load up any Linux distribution like Linux Mint, and type man ls at the terminal program. It's the same information as what arochester posted in #4, but what is the fun in that.

Most of the time to use Linux is looking up information.
