There is something nasty on my puter. It won't let me run any virusscans, neither online or offline. As soon as I try to start one, it freezes and shuts down on me.

Als when I turn the computer on I'm getting this errormessage:

The procedure entry point Getiums could not be found in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL.

Also I'm getting a system shutdown.

Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call service terminated unexpectedly.

I tried to do a system restore but It lets me only do one from today at the time the problems started.

Anyone please know what to do?

Do you have KB832483? I'm reading that may fix it.

I found this on another forum
    **************************
"The procedure entry [email protected] could not be found in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL"

    In the C:\Windows\System32 folder - MSDART.DLL was dated 10-27-2003
    In the C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 - MSDART.DLL was dated 08-29-2002

    I replaced the MSDART.DLL dated 10-27-2003 with the MSDART.DLL dated 08-29-2002.

Problem resolved, at least for now.

Did you restart after installing KB832483?

Also, some websites don't work properly with cookies disabled, and some don't work at all with session cookies disabled.

Go to tools/internet options/privacy/advanced,put a check in Override Automatic Cookie Handling, then accept First and third party cookies, then put a check in Always Allow Session Cookies. Ok your way out, then allow the same thing in your firewall

As to the shutdown problem,it sounds like the Blaster virus.
For the RPC error go to control panel/admin options/services and scroll down to Remote Procedure Call (not Remote Procedure Call Locator) right click and select "properties" click on "recovery" tab.You will see three failure options, change them all from "Restart Computer" to"Do Nothing".This will fix the restart problem, and give you time to fix the virus problem.
