I think my PC has been infected

The PC runs ok at startup but slows down significantly after 15 min or so. Adobe Lightroom becomes unusable because it is so unresponsive. Firefox freezes 3-4 times every hour. I haven't posted the Firefox problem on the Mozila site because I think it is part of this problem. I use NoScript & try to be careful about what processes I allow but I'm not a Superuser with it. I think my PC might have been infected. Any help appreciated.
