I have lost the icon in the tray that shows when I am coonected to the internet. I have reloaded windows, removed an ri-installed my modem and drivers. I have also checked the boxes in modem options that say show icon on connection. Any suggestions.

    Hiya

How do you connect to the web? Is it Dialup or a cable modem? If its the latter, then you won't see the boxes, as you will be connected all the time.

    Regards

Not sure about this and can't check on it know being online but.
Go to you Dial-Up Networking folder and right clicking on the dun you use. Go to properties, on general tab click on Configure button. Then click on the Options tab. Check box that say "Display modem status".

    Hiya

What is your OS? As you seem to have tried most things, including a format, try this.

    Goto Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Windows Setup>Communications

    Remove Dial-Up Networking.

    Reboot.
Use the same method to Install DUN again.

Check at IE settings are OK, then start up your Internet Connection.

    Regards

    Thanks Eddie:
Tried the thing with DUN still no icon. You woludn't happen to know the file this command might be located in so I could see if the file was even there. Or any other suggestions.

    Okay

Trying to get this in my head.

go here and download AddAware www.lavasoftusa.com
Install and run, ensuring that Deep Registry Scan is enabled. Remove all except for any references to Web3000 or new.net. If you're unsure, copy/paste the list here.

Whilst you're there, download and install RefUpdate to get the latest updates

Also, lets run a scan as well:

    http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Also, rightclick on the taskbar near where your clock is, and choose Properties. I assume that you have the clock ticked.

    Regards

    Hiya

Can you rightclick near your clock and choose Toolbar. Is Quicklaunch selected? Can you see your clock?
