A friend used my computer and now all the icons have white letters with a blue background. How do I change the coloring of the print on my desktop icons.

Right click an empty area of the desktop and choose Properties.
Click the Desktop tab, then the Color button.
This will allow you to change the blue highlight color.

For info on changing the Font and Color of the desktop text, please have a look at this article

Or ...

If it's transparent text you're looking for:

Right-click on 'My Computer' and click on 'Properties'.
Click the 'Advanced' tab and in the 'Performance' section, click the 'Settings' button.
Check the box 'Use drop shadows for icon labels...'.
