icons avoiding pointer

    Hello my desktop icons are avoiding my mouse pointer when I try to make contact with them. I have checked for the virus Magistr... but cannot find it present. any ideas would be grateful thanks.

    How have you checked for this virus exactly?

    For it does really sound like Magistr32, and it must have been there for some time, if it's doing that:

    Have you tried having your computer scanned on line?
    Trend Micro HouseCall is a good site for that.
    <A HREF="http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/activescan.asp?Language=2&Country=63&Partner=1&Ref=EN-PR-AS-107">Panda Active Scan</A> is another one.

    I also had this virus sent to me (accidentally) by a friend. I found that Norton AV 2002 worked and was surprised that NAV also picked up a couple of other infected files. I guess the lesson here is that a good AV program is not a luxury. I hope this turns out well for you.

    Thanks Tony for your reply and yes you were right it was the Magistra virus.
    One of your links managed to remove the virus completly.
