    hi guys,

    i have a lenovo ideapad u410
was very slow and problematic...tested the hdd which failed
replaced it with a new samsung
now when win 7 or 8 boots to start no harddrive is detected
the old drive boots...so this is weird to me
i have reset bios to defaults and have even tried another hdd
could this be a driver issue...i have never had to load drivers for hdd...but hey...theres always a first

I understand it when you say you replaced the failed drive in your Lenovo ThinkPad U410 laptop with a new Samsung hard drive.

What I don't understand is when you say no hard drive is detected when "Windows 7 or Windows 8" boots.

Can you be more specific and more clear as to what you did?

Is this during the install of Windows, or did you clone/image the drive to the new Samsung, or did the Samsung already have an O/S from another system? Your post isn't clear on the events happening.

Do you have Secure boot enabled in the BIOS? Does the BIOS/UEFI see the drives?

Were the two drive the same model?

Is there's any kind of adapter between the motherboard and drive that is loose or broken?
