I have noticed the past few days that IE is taking long and longer to drop down the drop down list of urls I have typed into the address bar. It has gotten so bad that now IE craps out when I try to do it. Could this be attributed to my network connection at school (T1 LAN, but its riddled with virii)? I am going to try Mozilla, but does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this problem?

Yes i did. I failed to mention earlier that when I try to drop down the address bar, it takes about 45 seconds, but after that initial try, it pops down no problem after that.

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

    Also..........

Check TASK MANAGER , PROCESSES to see if anything/program is taking up all the CPU time. ( other than System Idle process )
If there is a program that is taking up all the system processes, then it may cause this behavior as well

    GOOD LUCK!!!

One other thing to try would be to download Hijack this , do a scan save the log then copy and paste it here.

i run windows update RELIGIOUSLY. I run more crap to keep people off my computer than most (system works, pop-up stopper professional, ad aware 6, norton internet security). I run all of the updates almost every day, and run a defrag every couple days. You guys are not dealing with some jerko that doesn't know what he is doing

well the log looks ok to me thanks to your diligence. There are two things that i do in xp to tinker with internet explorer. The first is to search in windows for ie.inf . Be sure to set the search for hidden files and folders then when found right click it and select install. If that doesn't work there is one other thing but it can take out some of your windows updates including service pack 1. It is sfc /scannow form the start/ run box with the xp cd in the drive.(remember if you want to try this one it may take out your updates. i did it twice and each time it gave a different result )
