I have just installed XP replacing Win 2k.
I like to have my favorites in my order and not alphabetically. I drag and drop to that order, but, every time I shut down and boot up, the software rearranges the favorites to alpha order.

    How can I stop this?

Seems there should be a way to retain the positions in the favorites (including folders) when shutting down, rather than have the software reset in alpha order every time.

    Thoughts??

Did a bit of research and found that ie puts favourites in chronological order by default. To put them into alpha oyu have to do this:

"Internet Explorer sorts favourites in chronological order. To store then alphabetically click the Favourites menu in the toolbar (not the Favourites button). Right-click a Favourite, then choose Sort By Name. That should do it, though you'll need to periodically repeat this process to keep the list in alphabetical order."

Therefore just reverse what is said above!

Only problem is there is not a tab on the sort function that says "Sort by Chronological Order" i.e inverse of alpha order.
I am thinking this is a result of the way XP saves because the order of the favorites stays with drag and drop until the computer is rebooted. The IE keeps the order the XP seems to be the thing that reorganizes to alpha.
I just want the folders to stay in the order where I put them.
    Thoughts?

You could try reseting web settings. I know for a fact that chrono is default, so i think you might have changed a setting by mistake:

On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    Click the Programs tab.
Click the Reset Web Settings button.

Nope - that last suggestion didn't work either. As far as I can tell, there is no way to return your Favorites list back to its original chronological order. You can always resort them manually, but if you have a big list, it'll probably be more trouble than it's worth. I'm surprised Microsoft doesn't have an easy way to reverse the alphabetical arrangement action.
