    I have windows xp home edition (SP2), Internet explorer 6.0, and windows media player 10. My launchcast player and MSN zone games have always worked before, but all of a sudden they will not load anymore. I think it is a problem with my internet explorer browser, because at the bottom of the window it will say javascript open(), but the window never opens to display the game or player. It either doesn't load at all, or the browser stops responding and I have to close it. I have looked at all the help options on the launch and MSN games sites and followed their instructions but nothing helps. I followed the directions about changing the new windows xp firewall and pop-up blocker that came with the service pack 2 (which I downloaded recently, but these java applications had stopped working before I downloaded this). I thought downloading the service pack would possibly make it start working again. Does anyone have any ideas to help?

    Thanks in advance!

    do you have a pop-up blocker

    for java go here
    http://www.bodo.com/javame.htm
    look for two things
    1) the following text displayed
    YES!...IF YOU CAN READ THIS, YOU ARE JavaScript ENABLED!
    2) black box with wiggling text

    reinstall java http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp

    Have you attempted to click "enable" on the Custom Security levels?
    - In IE, click TOOLS
    - Click INTERNET OPTIONS
    - Click SECURITY tab
    - For both INTERNET and LOCAL INTRANET click CUSTOM LEVEL and look at your Java settings. Enable anything listed as Prompt or disable.

    This set will show you your java status

    I found that somehow my java software got completely deleted from my system. Once I downloaded some java software, the pages would load if i use msn explorer and they wouldn't before obviously. Internet explorer still won't open them though. No i have not installed any new software. I tried turning off my pop-up blocker, but that didn't make any difference. I made sure that java script was enabled in IE also. I also noticed that any links I try to click on in emails won't open a IE browser either. It pauses like it's trying to open something, but it never comes up. It does that if someone sends me a link in msn messenger too. I am just going to use msn explorer for now because everything works perfectly with it. I have no idea what could have messed up my IE. The only thing I can think of is that I had to manually delete some adware from a site called incredifind. Ad-aware and Spybot don't detect it, and it changes the page that loads everytime you click on a link in IE. I went through the registry and deleted every file I could find with incredifind in it. I did this by searching the registry though and I could have possibly missed one. I have been told that it is a sneaky thing that can hide itself in other IE files. If it is in files which don't have "incredifind" in the title, I didn't delete it. If anyone has a list of all the files that need to be deleted to get rid of incredifind maybe that could solve the problem?

    Thanks again!

    post a hijackthis log and let a security guru have a look and advise

    post a hjt log

    HIJACK THIS:
    Download and copy hijackthis to its own folder , it makes backups so keeping them separate and available can be useful.

    Note the Spyware tools websites are very often under attack and so I have provided more than 1 location to download from:

    http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
    http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/downloads.html
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
    http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe
    http://www.thewhities.com/
    http://www.sherrylynn.us/privacypolicy (this has an older version 1.97 - if you can not get to any of the above sites)

    Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”.
    Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad.
    Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.
    DO NOT FIX ANYTHING wait advice from one of the many security experts in this forum.

    I currently do not have the skill/competence to advise and poor advice can be far more damaging to your PC with this software, and so I will be unable to add any advice on the log and so will nolonger be replying to your post with regards to the HJT issue, so please have patience and wait for one of the secruity experts to provide further detailed advice

    i will however, be notified when you post the log

    Reboot into safe mode by following instructions here: http://helpdesk.its.bethel.edu/resnet/Documents/Antivirus/Safemode.html
    then as some of the files or folders you need to delete may be hidden do this:
    Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

    Locate and remove:
    C:\Program Files\TV Media [FOLDER]
    C:\Program Files\MyWay [FOLDER]
    C:\Program Files\EE [FOLDER]
    C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\DameK UltraBlue\Desktop Sidebar [FOLDER]
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\resutils.exe [FILE]

    ==============================
    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Open internet Explorer Click on "Tools">"Internet Options">And delete temp internet files.
    And clean out your %Userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp
    folder. [It's a good idea to do that regularly.]
    ==============================
    Go to Internet Options>Programs
    Click the "Reset Web Settings" Button to reset your prefered home and search pages.
    ==============================
    You may want to re-install MSJava.

    After doing all the HJT cleanup, copy the folloing to the run line

    regsvr32.exe urlmon.dll

    you should get a pop up that says the urlmon.dll was registered.
