    Hi guys !

My IE8 menu bar has the menu bar blacked out can't read the words.
I just can see the tabs I open of pages, but the rest it's blacked out .

I did a search here in the site and around the forums, but there's no reference about this ..... so.. I did a little of Google and the results of the search was this page with exactly the same symptoms as me :

    http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/429092/an/0/page/vc#429092

So I try the theme fix , but every time I log into the net it happens again the IE8 menu bar is blacked out, So..... I try the kelly's corner Reg. Fix but :( nope same thing every time I turn off the system then turn it on again and log into IE8 the menu bar is blacked out. :(

So I try uninstalling IE8 then reinstall but didn't work , the person in that forum of Webuser wrote that maybe it's something related with the windows Themes, but didn't say what was exactly ?

My Operating System it's Windows XP SP3 .

Do you guys have an idea how to fix this annoyance with a permanent stable fix.

Thansk for any help and pls. forgive my ignorance and my English not my first lenguage,

    Toti

This is the "Tool Bar" that is black.
If you turn ON the "Menu" bar is it black also? To do this, "View, Tool bars", select Menu bar.

All hits that I have found says it is a display drive issue. Have you tried changing the Resolution of your display driver?

    mmm . no, Now I'm running at 1680 x 1050.

I'm gonna try to lower the resolution.
And another thing I tried was to delete from my other folders of "Themes" other Custom Windows Theme Files of 6 Kb each one.

The path I used was this , Under XP home SP3 as follow :

Local Disk C:/ Documents and Settings / Admin / Application data / Microsoft / Windows / Themes <----- here I found one duplicate the Name under Theme and I delete the Custom Windows Theme File 6KB.
this window file have the same name as the one that I have in:

C:/ Documents and Settings / "my name" / Application Data / Microsoft / Windows /
    Themes (Custom Windows theme File).

The difference between both Themes Files are ....that one under "my name" shows the background of the wallpaper and the style.
Meanwhile the other one "Theme File" under "Admin " Just shows the style and a black background.

The one "Theme file "under Admin. was the one I deleted.

Now I'm going to reboot... then i'll see if I the Blacked out tool bar it's fixed.

I'm doing this because the Temporary Fixes, are been made by manipulating the "Themes" in the windows Display Properties.

So then if not ....gonna try that thing about "resolution" .

    Thansk DaveA

    Hi good afternoon.

Well i just tried lowering my resolution in my display driver but...No it didn't work :(
Nor the elimination of the Theme files.

Every time I turn on my computer and log in into tIE8 the tool bar still appears blacked out.

Now I'm going to try another thing :
in Display properties/ Appearance under the box of Windows and buttons: select Windows Classic style
    Under Color Scheme: Windows Classic
    Under Font size: Normal

Under Effects box ; I select into the box: Show Shadows under menus

    then select ok.

Reboot and I 'll brb to see if it worked.

I can't think right now into what else I can adjust or change to fix this blacked out tool bar.

by the way DaveA which kind of Display Driver the ppl. was using in those " Hits " you found? don't want to bother you , but it can give me a reference of what brand and type of Display Driver it's the one with troubles.

    BRB.

I have IE7 Pro. add-on enabled here link:
    http://wiki.ie7pro.com/index.php/IE7Pro_User_Guide

And Yes I have a jpg. a photograph from my camera as a custom Theme, but never before was giving me trouble, now with IE8 everything is just going krazy :( .

I already disable Spybot form complete and IE8 still delay to open around 8 to 10 secs. and to open my home page another 6 to 8 secs.

Thanks you guys for giving me a hand in this.
