When I am in my email program and I click on a link to go to a site on IE 8.0, the computer goes there, but it takes such a long time to download the link. Does anyone know why this is happening? Please help and thank you.

How does the internet run when you don't go through a link from your email program?

Actually this problem has corrected itself. I didn't change anything or mess with anything. I shut the computer off after being on it most of the day and now it is fine.
I thank you very much for your input.

Guess what? It is doing it again. Since I have been on this computer for say 26 minutes, it as started taking it's time with downloading a site, even your site. What gives? Thanks

Go through your add-ons and look for long load times.

    Hi Clorey

Have you tried a different browser ?
Easy to try Fire Fox or upgrade to IE 9...

Hi Hughv, nice sig but think more of a true "duck" with web feet,
    for what it's worth...

why don't you check with other people in your area that use bell south and the b.s. protection plan. my isp is verizon and they offer a plan for $5. a month. it was at one time norton ,my friend used it for a few months and has since swithed to MSE. i also use MSE ,it doesn't slow the system down.

I just want to say thanks to all of you who answered my question. I use Bell Canada, not Bell South and I have checked the add ons for IE. I have done everything that everyone has suggested and still this morning, it is slow. It took about 5 seconds for my computer to get to this reply thread. We'll see what happens. Thanks again everyone.

Oh I forgot, I cannot use IE 9.0 because I use Windows XP, not Windows 7.
